Socks I Must Knit (a list in progress)
I am somewhat of a repository of sock patterns. There are certain people who, when looking for a particular pattern, come to me and ask for ideas.
What, you want a toe-up, lace pattern? I spout off a few. An anklet pattern? I list a few others. It goes on.
Which isn’t to say that I have knit or plan to knit all of those patterns — but I do look at and file away most sock patterns I see. I do have this enormous list of socks that I want to make (some of which are already complete, but I wanted to put them on this list anyway):

[...] What are your favorite sock knitting patterns? I have a list of sock patterns I want to make here and you’ll notice that I like just about everything by Nancy Bush! I love her lace patterns, her cabled patterns, colorwork… everything! I’m most looking forward to making Laila’s Socks (you can see Sundara’s version here). [...]
[...] Do you have certain patterns planned for some of the yarns? Do you buy yarn and then choose a pattern? I usually buy the yarn first and then come up with a pattern. There are so many patterns out there that I want to make (see the list) that I don’t worry too much about finding a pattern for a particular sock yarn. That said, I do sometimes say to myself that I need a solid/almost solid yarn if I am planning to work a particular lace or cable pattern and look for . Does a certain sock yarn you have in your stash take you back to a certain event? (where you were when you bought/received it? what was going on in your life at the time!) Most of them do! There’s a ball of Opal Dreamcatcher that I bought in TN when one of my best friends got married. There’s some red Wildfoote that I bought in Seattle (well, Bellevue technically) at a shop that is now closed. There’s a bunch of stuff I picked up at MD S+W in 2005. I buy sock yarn when I go on trips. It’s easy to rationalize, it doesn’t cost too much, and it reminds me of my travels. [...]
