Yellow! Bainbridge!

The lovely Minty (pepperknit) released a pattern for this cute scarf almost two years ago! I didn’t really get it until I looked at the pattern. Oh! Ingenious!

I started this with some of my leftover Socks That Rock Heavyweight in 24 Karat. It was the i-cord trim on the BSJ I knit for my friend M+R’s new baby, Veronica Marie (congratulations!). I had plenty of yellow left over and I knew I wanted to make a scarfy-type-thing for myself with it.

I followed the pattern for the most part. I did cast on fewer stitches (120) because I didn’t want anything too large. I also worked i-cord ties instead of the ties the pattern specifies.

It took me only a few hours to knit this — I started it in the car on the way to one of DH’s hockey games — and it only used about 25g of yarn.

I have a lot of random balls of yarn that do not have any project plans attached to them. Souvenir yarn purchased on vacations, yarn without much yardage. I’m not the type to knit the same project multiple times. But, this pattern is flexible. Change the stitch pattern — make it lacy, cabled, ribbed, seed stitch, moss stitch. Stripe it. Use a variegated or space-dyed or solid yarn. Trim it. Use a button attachment instead of ties. The possibilities really are endless, which is why I think I will be making this again (but a little different). Thanks for a flexible, fun, quick pattern, Minty!
