Back to Rogue

I kept myself up last night coughing, so I opted to stay home sick
today. DH handled dinner, and came home with some
href="http://www.rogue.com/">Rogue beer. He didn’t even know that I
was planning to work on my long-put-on-pause
href="http://www.girlfromauntie.com/patterns/shop/rogue/detail.php">Rogue
tonight.
I remember now why I didn’t get so far on the body — my 40″ turbo in
US7 has an awful cable and the Peace Fleece doesn’t like to move along
it at all. I might have to pick up a new one tomorrow — I think it’s
the old Addi Turbo cable. Unspeakably lame!
In other fun things, my
href="http://www.handpaintedyarn.com/">6 ply Bulky Merino Malabrigo
in Pearl Ten arrived earlier this week. The site describes it as “deep
grey with green shadows.” When I opened the box, all of the hanks
href="http://www.xantha.org/gallery/stash/DSC_3461">just looked
muddy, mostly brown and a grungy purple.
Then I swatched it up:

Suffice it to say that I love the yarn now. What gorgeous
variegation! It’s mostly grey and purple with a slight twinge of
brown underneath. I’m getting 4st/1″ on US8, and 3.75st/1″ on US9. I
think it will become
href="http://www.theknittinggarden.com/noro-naturally.htm">Mavis –
I figured out the math earlier today. My only fear is that the YO holes
will be too large in a bulkier yarn, but in my swatch they don’t look so
bad.
[and yes, I am fighting the urge to work on Malabrigo instead of
Rogue... ]
Tomorrow I pick up some fun books and yarn, and I will also pick up
needles for the Malabrigo sweater. This should be my last LYS trip for
many months, as I am going to be imposing a yarn/fiber/book diet. It’s
like binging before the diet — which certainly isn’t healthy, but sure
is fun!
