Secrets and More Secrets

The knitting ’round these parts has been secret upon secret– and the blog suffers!

But here’s a no-longer-a-secret-project:

I knit E (PokingMyEyesOut) a mini-Clapotis as a sort of hostess-type gift in some Socks That Rock Silkie in Stormy Weather. The yarn reminded me of her dogs Winter and Kooler — obviously I had to make her something with it.

I really loved working with the Silkie. The scarf was surprisingly fun to knit for someone (me!) who hates knitting rectangles. I knit it in a few hours and left the washing and blocking up to E (I didn’t want to fly with a damp scarf) — sorry, E!

A week-old snapshot of a still-secret project that I just finished today:

I really liked knitting with this yarn. It’s 75% recycled cotton from textile waste and 25% acrylic. I washed it in HOT water to shrink it a little and it bled like crazy (as Clara warns here). I also dried it in the dryer, and it looks great! I like having the confidence to ignore yarn care instructions.

I’m not 100% happy with the design (I made it up as I knit), but I think once I add the button I will be happier. I hope to share this one in just under a month!

Administrivia: I’m going to upgrade the blog software in the next couple of days. Please let me know if you see anything strange. Thanks in advance!

Do you think that damp knitting would count as a liquid, and be required to be put in a ziploc baggie?

love the mini-clap! I think that is the only size I could ever knit, if I eventually knit one! it matches perfectly!
