Happy 2006!

First, Happy Birthday to
Cara
, our lovely href="http://www.januaryone.com/archives/jaywalker_kal/">Jaywalker
KAL host, Socks That Rock enthusiast, and all-around interesting and
funny knitblogger. Check out her blog if you haven’t before!

In totally unrelated news, I decided that I need an incentive-based
plan for the yarn/fiber/craft diet, so here it is:

[note that this is for non-vacation time only and these
incentives do not count against these periods either.]

If I do not buy any yarn, fiber, books, or magazines from now (1 Jan
2006 at 13:39) until 1 Feb 2006, I can purchase two poofs from href="http://www.graftonfibers.com/fibers.htm">Grafton Fibers.
(additional target here: spin up at least 4oz of fiber to make
room).

If I do not buy any yarn, fiber, books, or magazines from 1 Feb 2006
until 1 Mar 2006, I can purchase Barbara G. Walker’s A Second
Treasury of Knitting Patterns
. (additional target here: have
purchased a bookcase for the craft books that has room for an additional
book).

If I do not buy any yarn, fiber, books, or magazines from 1 Mar 2006
through 1 Apr 2006, I can purchase Barbara G. Walker’s A Fourth
Treasury of Knitting Patterns
.

If I do not buy any yarn, fiber, books, or magazines from 1 Apr 2006
through 6 May 2006 (the first day of MD S+W), I can spend an extra $100
at the festival.

Vacation guidelines:

I will set a target of what I am looking for on the particular
vacation based upon fiber makeup and amount. For example, I may choose
to look for bamboo yarn and decide that I need 200g of it, so that is my
target goal for the trip. Also, one 100g/4oz of sock yarn per shop
visited is allowable (since that’s my thing). There will also be a
budget meant mostly to prevent me from buying 5 tons of qiviut or pure
cashmere (ha ha).

Gifts do not count against this, so if I decide that I am going to
make someone something and need to purchase yarn for it, that is okay.
However if I do not use the yarn or do not finish the item, it counts
against these guidelines and I lose!

That sure seems more than reasonable to me. We shall see how it
goes!

Time to head out to the Caps game. My Rogue is coming along finally.
I’m hoping that tomorrow I can make serious progress. I would love to
finish it before winter ends!
