Listless and Pumped!

  • On Wednesday, this bit of gorgeousness arrived at my doorstep:
sundara yarn sport merino in cherry blossom
mmm sundara yarn in cherry blossom

It is gorgeous. And — I think — perfect for the EZ February sweater (that one is by Elli of Elliephantom Knits) and top-down bonnet I have planned for it. What do you think?
  • On Wednesday, I was given a beta tester code to join Ravelry.
    ravelry projects
I should be working, but instead I am ravelrying!

E (Poking My Eyes Out) and I have been geeking out over the past couple of years, and coming up with a list of features that we wanted in a crafty-management-tool. I had started designing the backend when I found out that frecklegirl jess and her hubby Casey opened Ravelry.

It does just about everything E+I had discussed and more. It has a well-designed UI. I am impressed! And now I don’t have to write the code myself! It gives you an easy way to manage your WiPs, FOs, planned future projects, stash — and also to quickly look up projects others have completed. I know that before I knit something, I google around for blog posts about the pattern to see what it looks like on a real person, whether there were any problems with the pattern, whether the yarn amounts were reasonable… Ravelry makes it very easy to do this without googling and opening 50 billion blog posts in tabs.

They are slowly adding beta users and adjusting for performance, so if you’re interested in testing it out, go here and plug your email address in and you should receive an invitation at some point after this weekend.

  • Because you all know what this weekend is, right? No, not just the first time I will see the lovely DH’s ice hockey team play (aw), but also sheep + wool! And I have so much preparation to do tonight for it. It took me until yesterday to get truly excited about it this year, but now I am so ready to go!
    say hi!
knowing me, I will forget my sunglasses and be squinting just like this

If you see me, say hi! I should have my big honking camera and a sock in hand (probably my plain stripey picot edge Vancouver sock), and my mom and aunt with me. Can’t wait!

Oh, I’m SO jealous! I’ve been waiting for my invite to Ravelry all week! It sounds so amazing–I really want to get on it, take a look around, and start contributing. I evenly openly and shamelessly begged for an invite on by blog earlier today. I have no shame. Hope you have a great time at MDSW–I can’t make it this year.

I signed up too but it was a couple days after the first posts started appearing; it’ll probably be a while until I get my code.

Sundara is beautiful, I’d be jealous except there’s only so much yarn I can work with at any one time anyway. At least that’s what I keep telling myself, anyway.

Have fun at sheep + wool!
