Thinking About Knitting, But That’s About It
I had a very (very very very) minor surgical procedure today and while I have now been home in bed for 2.5 hours with an icepack, my laptop, and Licorice Whip, I have not knit a single stitch. The small amount of drugs I am on have me unable to focus on anything. What a waste, huh?
In the outpatient waiting room, there was a woman with a bin of yarn crocheting a really interesting looking long thing in green and ecru Caron Simply Soft. It was a neat stitch pattern, but I couldn’t tell what it actually was. Perhaps a Mile A Minute afghan? Ah yes, I bet that’s what it was. I kept wishing I had my knitting, but really, I didn’t have too much free time to do anything. The image of me in a hospital gown knitting on a sock is amusing though (or maybe that’s the drugs talking).
Last night I did get around to picking up the stitches at one arm of Licorice Whip. I also calculated the decrease rate for the sleeves. I sure hope I can finish this sweater sometime in the near future!
No pictures — the camera is in the basement along with the card readers and I am not feeling up to going down there!
I hope you get to feeling better soon Jess. Minor surgery, no matter how minor it’s still surgery – rest and get lots of attention. I’ll bet you start knitting sooner than you think. :o)
Hope everything’s ok–and that your knitting brain comes back soon!
Hey, I hope you’re doing better. Not to worry about NOT knitting in your state. It could become a bad reminder of “you know”…
Just relax and get caught up on all your blog reading and mindless surfing. And licorice whips.
Yup, surgery is surgery and I hope you recover quickly.
I hope you have a speedy recovery and can get back to normal soon!
Be well!
Glad you are ok. I hate that feeling of having whole day at home, but no focus (drug induced or otherwise) to do anything! But, you are close to the end – just sleeves!
Hope you get up and about soon!
I knit on a my son’s rollneck sweater while waiting for my C-section and knit on it while I was recovering. :) The nurses were amused, but said I was certainly not the first. :)
Get well soon!!!!
Glad you’re well. Maybe the post-surgery drugs will inspire creative knitting designs. When you mentioned the image of you knitting a sock in a hospital gown, it reminded me of the story behind the stocking cap pattern in the winter ’05 knitty.
