Sweater No. 1: The Revisit
Sweater No. 1 is a revival of sorts. I went back to DH’s sweater after he whined a little about having not seen me work on it in some time. I realized that a huge rectangle of stockinette stitch was just not going to get done in any sort of reasonable period of time, but I knew that if I worked the sweater in the round, I would likely finish it much faster (I hate the entire purl rows, I do).

we’ve only just begun
this is my new lens, I had to play with it. mm bokeh beer.
After seeing a number of EZ’s seamless hybrid sweaters in blogland (Jared, Julia, curlypurly, knitmeister, amisha), I showed Jared’s version to DH who proclaimed that he liked it, as long as his was not that color (ha! I love that color).
So I frogged the 15″ of back I had completed, did some basic math, argued with myself about how I wanted to do a nifty contrast hem, before I remembered that DH really wanted a rolled hem. Well, it is his sweater, I may as well do what he wants. Rolled hem it is!
Right now I’m not sure if I will add the texture I planned for the front of the sweater because I’m not sure how it will look, but I will probably try it out, at least.
[edit: DH wants texture, so there will be some texture on the front that "doesn't go under the arms, but isn't as boring as plain knit."]
Hopefully it will be completed before I decide to frog it and start another sweater!
I love that you are so relaxed about ripping the part you had knit. My husband just does not get how we can do that!
Oh? Did someone say “lens”? Details? Which one ya using??
I just read what I posted, and that really makes me sound like a lens slut.
Oh, well…
I’m with you on all those purl rows. Boring! I’m not as much a fan of pullovers (for myself) and Rick agrees (for himself) – so that means if I were to knit in the round a sweater it would have to be a cardigan which pulls out the feared steeks and yes I’m a coward. No in the round cardigans for me (or Rick). Yet. Can’t wait to see this pullover though, love ‘em on other folks. :o)
That sweater is totally male–love it. I hate purling, too. I would rather knit in the round any day than rows but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
That will make a great basic sweater (with a little texture of course!) at least he picked the easier hem to go with! :)
