Travelling Knitters

When I flew to DC last month for business, I lamented to myself that I never saw anyone else knitting or crocheting on my flights.

Yesterday I had settled into the center seat (ugh) between a woman at the window and my husband on the aisle. While the plane was sitting at the gate for an extra 30 minutes while they kept de-icing the wings, WindowWoman pulled out some very vibrant purple kettle-dyed yarn and a pattern[ravelry]. Husband said, “hey! it’s a knitting pal for you!” I laughed and made a joke about us tangling our circular needles as I pulled out my Daybreak shawl.

She told me she really likes the new LYS in DC (Dupont Circle area), Looped. We chatted a bit about knitting and she showed me the hat she was working on for one of her sons. She had the Addi clicks, which she really liked.

Hooray! Finally, a knitting person for me to talk to while travelling.

Oh, thanks so much for posting this! I am in DC pretty regularly for conferences, and I always thought it was weird that there was no yarn store near Dupont Circle. I always end up staying at that Hilton, and it will be SO NICE to have somewhere to shop! I tried to go to Stitch DC once but it really was too far away. YAY! Plus, check out their website–Tanis Gray is working there!
