Harvest Moon

I suppose it’s only appropriate that I share the beginning of my Harvest Moon sweater (gibbous on ravelry) today — are you going to check out the harvest moon tonight?

I’ve actually had this yarn in the stash for ages (2005!) but have had trouble matching it to a pattern because the tweed is so incredibly loud. I love it, but it is so loud it overpowers cables and intricate patterning.

When I saw Heidi Kirrmaier’s latest pattern, Harvest Moon (ravelry link), I fell in love with the pockets and the yoke and the very simple-looking sweater. I’m a fan of smart details on a more simple shape, and I know I wear those types of garments more often. I’m making a few modifications for myself — adding bust darts & waist shaping, installing a zipper — but I love the pattern matched with this yarn.

And frankly, I’m happy to finally start to get this yarn out of the stash and into a sweater!
